Replacing A2 sight post with the Hi Viz optical Fibre post in AR flip up sight

I recently got an AR to which I added flip up front and rear sights. When I took it to the range, I found that with my prescription inserts and my glasses I couldn't see the front post, which was all black.

Since the info on the site said they were "A2" type, it seemed like an easy swap. Using the tool provided, I backed out the old post and replaced the locking pin with the provided one and tried to install the new post. It turns out that the threaded rod for the post was shorter on the flip up sights than the standard one. I used my Dremmel to cut it down and ground it to length. Then I found that the pin was a bit closer to the center on the flip up sights that the standards. So the pin wasn't engaging in the notches on the side of the new post. So then I had to take a small round file and open up and the notches to allow the post to lock in place.

Maybe I should have just painted the original post Day-Glo Orange?

Further to this, the Hi Viz info (at least at Al Flaherty's web site) says it fits flip up sights. This isn't true in all cases. Mine are the AIM aluminum flip up sights.
