Replacing AR15 Stock

I am a newb to ARs. Can you replace the fixed stock on these new AR's that are being brought into canada now with a Collapsible one. Or is the furniture permanetly attached?

You can easly remove A2 stock. To convert to collapsible stock you will need the following.

Buffer tube aka receiver extension
Castle Nut
Receiver end plate
Collapsible stock
Car buffer or any weight you'd like to run (H, H2 etc)
Car buffer spring.

there is most likely lock tite on the OEM buffer tube and thats why it is hard to remove.

I've never heard of putting loctite on the buffer tube, this would not be a nice idea. They are, however torqued pretty good!

You should also look into getting the proper Castle Nut wrench. Questar sells them. $13 ea (think they are currently sold out).

In a nut shell, you can replace everything fairly easily on an AR (stock, pistol grip, trigger, trigger guard, safety, mag release, bolt release, handguards, barrel, flash hider or comp - if not pinned - etc...), you just need the proper tools.

I have the DPMS AR tool and it is very good for barrels etc, but not for current receiver extension lock nuts, you really should have the three points of contact, not one.

The one I use, I think they're ~$6 from Brownells? I've fitted many many stocks with mine, works like a charm.
