I have a Parker Hale 1100 in .270 that I really like the fit and feel of as my deer rifle, but there a 2 things that drive me nuts about it.
1) The trigger has a bunch of creep
2) The 3 position safety is a pain as it hits the scope and can no longer go to the 3rd position. In the second position (won't fire, bolt will open), the safety sits so tight to the scope that I can't operate it with gloves on very well.
Can I replace the trigger with something like this -> htt p://www.brownells.com/aspx/ns/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=1686&title=BOLD%20TRIGGER
From what I can tell, this will solve both of my issues, but I'm not sure what to do about the factory safety as it is attached to the bolt.
I assume that the safety problem exists on any of these firearms that have had a scope mounted, so someone has probably dealt with this before.
I could just raise the scope with higher rings, but I like the current fit, so I don't want to be goose necking to see though the scope. I could also just have the trigger worked on, which would probably fix the creep, but not the safety issue.
Any ideas?
Here is a picture of the safety off:
And a picture of the safety on (in the second position):
Thanks for the help!
