Replacment stock and trigger for stevens 200

I ordered from Boyd's and got mine for free because they realized that they had misplaced my order. So, yes they #### up, but they own up!

Accu-trigger question?

Can the accu trigger be installed on Savage/Stevens rifles that don't already have them? What is the SSS trigger?

As for Boyds, I'd like to get one for my Win.88 ($200) but not sure if its worth it? What bad experience did ya have PEI ROB?

Hi Huntsman.

First time caller, long time listener - love your show:p

IIRC, previous posts GCN stated that the Stevens 200 can't be fitted with an accutrigger. Something to do with the fact that it is based on the 110 action. If I am wrong, I am sure you will hear about it within the next two posts.

You know me, if I could pimp mine anymore...I would:).

Insofar a stocks. Richard's Microfit rilfe stocks out of California. That's were I got my sporter stock for the Enfield P17.

Besides getting screwed then waiting for something that wasn't coming, Boyd's decides to stop selling their varmit stock to the public. Then they increase all their prices by well over $100 per stock. Not a laminate fan in the first place and for a regular hunting stock they are too heavy.

Thanks Hakx, it's nice to hear a good compliment from my listeners :p
So then for the pre-accutrigger Savages it's the same deal?
I think all you need now for your 200 is a threaded muzzle...I have friends you know;)

Sounds like Bouerson already owns the 200 so it's too late to sugest something else;) I haven't dealt with Boyds but I'm sure they make a nice stock and yes the 110 series are the same as the 200 when it comes to fitting a stock changing barrels etc. The Sharp Shooter trigger fits both as well.
I don't like the Accu Trigger idea myself. That moving part thing makes me nervous. The trigger that comes on the 200 is the same trigger that has been adjusted to very nice safe hunting trigger on the kitchen table by the average shooter for decades. Not hard to get it down to 2lbs and as crisp as you could want for hunting conditions. You can get it better if you'r handy with a 1000 grit hone but that aint for the kitchen table guys:D. I've installed the SSS trigger and yes they are sweet but with some patience you can save the $100.
Another option to the Boyds stock is to take the 200 stock and bedd it from action to forestock. I fill the cavities under the barrel with a poly foam to take up most of the gap then bedd the entire barrel. This stiffens the stock tremendously and gets rid of those water resevoir gaps inthe forestock. Very little weight is gained and the rifle even feels better in your hands. To keep the free float just slip an inner tube from a bycicle or simular over the barrel while bedding. The 200 stocks are rough to say the least but a bit of sand paper applied to the mould seams takes a minute. Now of to the hardware store for some Krylon and for a few bucks you got your own custom 200:D
This one is a Savage pre Acu Trigger but you get the idea;)
