I recently purchased a reproduction magazine for my No.4. It wasn't a good fit. I spent an hour tweaking it just so it would feed properly.

Has anyone else had this problem, or have I a black cloud that follows me around when it comes to reproduction items?

I ask this too, because I spent 4 hours making the repro ATI stock fit this same rifle.

btw, I didn't ruin a restorable rifle. This one was built from spare parts I've collected over the years.

I had one of those those that looks squared-off and angular. I can't remember who makes it. Almost looks like a BAR mag lol. Anyways, it would only hold 9 rounds, and it didn't fit right, either. Wouldn't cycle rounds as well. I threw it away without machining it. It didn't even look good in the rifle.

I have had good luck with buying new mags from < www.triplek.com > in California . Shipping no problem so far ??
They manufacture a huge selection & sell to public . ,,,,,,, Frank

Magazines for Lee Enfields were generally fitted to the rifles. It makes sense that repros which from the ones I have seen, appear to be reverse engineered (i.e. not based on the original schematics) would require extensive fitting.

I have had a difficult time making old ones work, crappy manufacturing from back in the day I guess, so your problem is not only limited to the new stuff

Magazines were handfitted. Not a matter of being crappy, just everything was handfitted back in the day. Interchangeable parts only meant they were close to each other not that they were exactly the same like nowadays. That and the fact most the originals are banged up by idiots using them as detachable magazines instead of loading them properly from the top has lead to what was very close to correct being far off.

I have 1 and it functions 100% came with the rifle. Looks like a "pro mag". doesn't look like its been tweeked either.

These are the issues I was dealing with. My bolt wouldn't move either.

Although the original mags look better in this rifle, and the repro is ugly looking, in the ATI stock it doesn't look too horrible.
