Does anyone have one of the current repro no.32 mk1 or mk2 scopes on the market? If so any feed back would be great. I am currently building a replica no4 mk1T and have every thing but the glass figured out. Also if anyone knows of a smith or someone capable of mounting and properly colminating the scope on the action I would love to know. Thanks

I have one mounted on a real #4T. It works well. Not quite as good as the real one.

I purchased mine from Wheaty (here on CGN). He tuned it up. Since I bought it from him, I don't know how good or bad it was in its original state.

I am very pleased with it. maybe he can help with the mounting of it.

Wheaty said the original batch of repros were pretty good.

But the more recent batch were junk, as in avoid.

Not that anyone in the US will ship them here. :(

Wheaty does know a gent in SK who was installing pads on receivers and getting them collimated pretty well.

As said in the post before original batch of scopes were really good. Gent from Sask does really good job on the installation. When he put my rifle together the whole operation with me mailing the rifle and rifle arriving back in BC was only 10 days. Scope was perfectly collimated. When fired at our range 500m gong it was perfectly on target straight out of the box

Oh man well that's not good to hear. I was hoping there might be a little light at the end of the repro no32 scope tunnel. I would love to buy an original and even found one for sale but $2200 is a bit out of my price range. I thought the scopes that RSM sells on eBay looked pretty good. Oh well I'm not giving up yet, I've spent 2 years putting the rifle together to be a beautifully fully restored shooter, even has a brand new match grade lothar walther replacement barrel. I'll contact wheaty and hopefully he can help me out.

Most good smiths should be able to do the mounting of the er, mount, if you explain to them just what it is you need. The important bit is to mount the FRONT pad first, then adjust the back until it measures up. I managed to get ahold of an old Czech replica, but it has been a LOT of hassle. I've had to do some serious modification to the mount and scope (numerous drilling and tappings).

A Lyman Alaskan, would also be considered historically accurate if you're doing a Long Branch. 300 LB 4T's were scoped with the Alaskan as supply of 32 scopes was not sufficient. If it helps.

Old Czech replica? Would love to see pics of that?

You mean of a No 32?

BTW, very few will do that pad installation job and fewer still know how to do it properly.

Way too much money for Chinese repro stuff...

As good as it may or may not be, the Chinese have raised their prices up way past the past bargain levels.

At those prices, you could probably add some $ and find a real one, which will have some enduring value.

My australian friend, Dennis, helped with the report with these reproduction scopes and he said good things about them (he as no business affiliation with the seller)
I personaly dont own one but they look pretty nice and promissing.

Look up my thread on the No4T replica I made. The collocation process is not hard, just takes patience and some damn good drill bits.

Capt. Peter Laidler has a write up on doing the collimation over at milsurps. If you read it enough to memorize it you won't make any mistakes.

I know the asking price is quite ridiculous for the what Im sure is a mediocre scope at best not to mention the "made in China" aspect. I Am going to look around for the real deal before I settle. If I can find an original for $2000 or less I would probably jump on it.

This is my rifle, it futures older import scope and mounts

Whatever you can find or get one for.

The cheaper ones tend to need a lot of work and/or cosmetic repair.

There's not specific place to buy one either, you have to watch ebay, the EE here etc.

What does a real #32 cost in Canada?

There is one in the optics section of the EE now. It is a 1945 Canadian mkll. The price is not too out of line, especially not if you have a Canadian rifle that needs a Canadian scope.

You can also look at ebay for the completed auction prices. Any originals that I have seen at gun shows were usually about 3/4 of the ebay prices. I think I paid $1500 for one that had been recently refurbished a couple years ago to complete a rifle.
