I am seriously considering building reproduction Enfield transit boxes over the winter and am wondering if anyone would be interested in buying one? I have done some research and recieved plans to build the Enfield Transit box for the no 4 mk 1 "T" As well I have sourced out a supplier of the hardware neccessary to put it all together.

Not too sure what the price may be yet, but they will be an exact reproduction, right down to the stencilling on the inside and outside. One thing about these boxes is the plans call for dovetails on the corners, which is labour intensive. Anyone willing to give me an idea what they think a reasonable price is? I know the originals have been sold for for between $500 and as much as $800. Any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It's a nice idea...but people really don't value reproductions very highly. You can't think about the same price range, at all.
Maybe $200? And let the market tell you if it's too high or there's any demand?

Not sure if I can make it worth my while to sell them for $200. I think what I will do though is make a couple for myself with finger joints on the corners instead of dovetails, which is less work. I will carefully record the hours it takes, add the material and orginal hardware kit (which is $50 US) and see what the final cost is and keep you guys posted. There is also the issue of shipping to potential buyers which I suspect will make the whole project too expensive. I think if I could ship them "un-assembled" it would help keep the shipping down somewhat.

In the meantime, would appreciate anymore input and would like to hear from potential buyers if any out there. Thanks.
