So here it is.. I have very little time to process my deer, let alone hunt. I have yet to find a meat shop that is satisfying to me. I have tried different people at various locations. They were okay but really didn't produce any sausage, pepperoni or jerky that was outstanding. Just wondering if any of you fellows know of anyone who makes great sausage, pepperoni, etc in or around the Edmonton area?

I always butcher my own deer and usually make my own sausage but on occasion time constraints force me find a butcher to do sausage.

I have used K&K years ago and the sausage was good.

Last time two years ago I went with the Butcher's Bus out on Highway 14. I had seen them and talked to them at the Huntfest. They promised lactose and gluten free sausage. I got garlic and Italian made and it was very good.

I still have a bit left of the Italian.

As it is almost time to clean out the venison in the freezer before September I am planning on calling him again.

Huntfest is this weekend in Edmonton. Good opportunity to check a number of options out.

I used the guy in Peers last year, no appointment needed and he said if it was a smaller deer theres no charge for the butchering of it. His sausage was pretty good to me but I havent had much deer sausage, mostly moose. The new guy, Bows meats, here in Whitecourt has AWESOME jerky, beef anyway, peperonni not great tho

Sandy View Farms in Spruce Grove.

The best, and I mean the best I have ever eaten. Real expensive. Real good.

I get the "meat sticks" if you want to know what they taste like stop in the front of the store and a buy some beef ones to try.

Reg's homestyle Meats in Med Hat is pretty good, my Favorite. Premium sausage in Seven Persons is a favorite of many guys I work with, but I perfer Reg's.

Probably a bit far from you judging by your location of WMU 506.

The butcher shop in Beaumont is very good. His sausage is excellent. His prices are reasonable. He did a pile of deer and moose for me over the years before I moved East.

I was always happy with Coronado Meats.

Swiss guy, makes pretty good sausages, IMO. Not particularly cheap. Quite willing to not allow a customer to put a filthy dirty carcass into his cooler, a plus in my opinion.

Makes a great Hungarian sausage, along the lines of a landjeager, but not as dry, or as smokey. Spicy! Mmmmm!

Worth checking out, IMO.

Cheers

Hamels in Bonnyville.

Close to WMU 506 and a AWESOME product.

Best garlic sausage, pepperoni, salami period.

35 lbs of my moose + 10 lbs pork shoulder + processing + vacum packing= 160.00$ this last june.

Gonna go pull a ring out now.
