Reputable place to get a DLC/Nitride finish on a handgun?

Hey guys! I've got a Nighthawk Custom 1911 that I'd like to change up a bit. I was just wondering if there were any reputable gunsmiths in Canada that offered a DLC/Nitride refinish? Only place I've seen has been CDN Gunworx but based off of their reviews I can't trust them with this firearm.

I'm not really interested in Cerakote for this project. I've got a few builds by BlackBoxCustoms who knocked it out of the park, but Cerakote on a 1911 doesn't sit right with me haha. Thanks for the help!

The one and only time I've dealt with CDN Gunworx was for a DLC job. Zero complaints about the work performed or my experience dealing there.

But I have also heard many stories of people who weren't as lucky. Do they still have the money from all the people who prepaid for a Maccabee SLR and never got one?

Sorry I don't know who else to recommend.

Yeah I heard they did great work but really fell off the wagon from 2019 onwards. I'm still trying to get into contact with them. As long as the DLC quality is good I don't care who does it haha.

I'm not sure how the whole Maccabee fiasco had unwinded, but I don't think it was ever resolved.

I'll keep my eye out, thanks! How's the DLC holding up?

The job was done well and held up great. Really durable finish. Would take pics but no longer have it as of a couple months ago. IIRC It was done somewhere in 2017 or very early 2018.

I would still suggest looking around for someone else because I would not give any more money to someone who took pre-order money from a bunch of people and never delivered. But if you don't find someone else I would recommend going to Gunworx in person if you're within reasonable driving distance and get a feel of the situation yourself before committing. As I said, my experience was good but that was some time ago and I've heard a lot to the contrary since I was there.
