I just spoke to Julie from Remington Arms in New York asking her if Remington could bring back the Nylon series of rimfire rifles and was told to write an email request to "info@remington.com" so I did and hope everyone does too.

I hope maybe we could Sticky this post. :D

LOL Remington droped the Nylon 66 because it was to expensive to produce, too complicated to fix and was being over shadowed by guns like the 10/22.....which is why they produced the 597....which isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Remington discontinued the nylon 66 do to the tooling for the 66 was wearing out and there wasn t enough sales to justify the retooling.

So what you are saying is that Remington found the Nylon 66 to not be economically viable. Because they needed some new, prohibitively expensive machines to continue making the Nylon 66, and because of their low sales..... due to guns like the 10/22 taking the market which could actually be worked on and fixed should something go wrong. So no one wanted to buy an overly complicated nylon 66.? ;)

there was also a factory in BRAZIL that made them - i 've never heard anything about the quality, etc- maybe that's where the tooling went- the other thing i can see was that there were so many variations - special colors, gallery specials, magazine( clip fed) models, etc- maybe just producing the ONE model- with a clip magazine( the tube feds don't do very well these days- everybody wants a clip( that's so the goofballs over at remington can understand - i KNOW IT'S CALLED A MAGAZINE- unless you're dealing with the remington factory, then it's a clip- so says the literature- and a staggered feed- ie a 25 or better rounder

CBC I believe it was called

CBC or FIE that was the company that made the 66 but they didn t make it for long as they found out that at the time the public wanted something different. Also the quality of the 66 copies wasn t as good the originals.Personally I like the 66 and had one when I was a kid.It was a good reliable gun and I wish I still had mine.

i do- and it's still the most accurate 22 i've got- and i've got a few now- completely traditional, as it came from k-mart, but i've removed the decals- and brother was that stuff hard to get off- it came with the 4x bushnell clamp 22 scope at the time( 15 extra) which nobody has the allen key for anymore
