My wife has tested a few hand guns and found this one to fit her smaller hands perfectly.

However, before committing to the purchase, I'm interested in feedback on the model from anyone who owns one. Basic reliability and wear 'n' tear feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Bought one for my girlfriend this spring, she loves it. only have about 600 rnds through it so far but so far not a hickup. still trying different brands of ammo to see if they function very different between each other. so far it likes the cheap fedrals, had a few FTF with thunderbolts. but they maybe just from her 'limpwristing".

Overall very happy with the quality and function, for smaller handed shooters.

I have one and everyone in my family loves it. Its a blast to shoot, fairly accurate and mostly good quality. I say mostly because the recoil spring guide is plastic and on mine the slide makes contact with it and has cut a groove in it. I got a new one and the same thing happened to it. I saw a video on youtube the other day and the guy had the same thing happen to his. It doesn't seem to affect the function of the gun as it cycles flawlessly and even with the crappy spring guide I still love it.

The 1911-22 is a wicked gun.

First, the slide is milled, not cast like most other .22 handguns (much better strength).

I own two myself and they're awesome.

The biggest complaint most people have with .22 handguns is that they are ammo sensitive and tend to jam a lot. My 1911-22's have never jammed in ~600 rounds, and I used everything from cheap Federal bulk to CCI Mini Mags.

Browning claims they did torture tests and that the gun is good for 20k rounds.

Two things I don't like:
- The sights suck
- I wish they would release either a factory or aftermarket grip safety, because the original one that the gun comes with isn't long enough to prevent the hammer from digging into my skin.

Mine has been great so far too, GI style sights kinda suck, but has performed flawless.

With subsonics its as accurate as my python, i can hit clays at 50 yds. figure we have run 1000 plus winchester 333 through it without a single hickup.

Awesome for people with small hands (heck big hands too)
My only gripe was the 8-10!!! pound trigger that is now tuned down to 4ish so my 8 year old can squeeze it safely

I purchased one for my wife in February. She was new to shooting and a larger caliber was intimidating to her although she did try my son in-laws 1911 .45ACP and handed it back saying no thanks. It has had about 1500 rounds go through it now and gets a lot of use by our whole family group and guests. Its fun to shoot and accurate enough that I can hit golf balls with it at 25 yards (way more fun than the $500 I spent for a set of clubs and the green fees). Only recently it developed a problem with failure to fire even though the gun had been cleaned several times. On close inspection I found a thick buildup of a carbon like deposit around the firing pin that I had to remove with a dental pick. Since I removed the deposit it works flawlessly again. My wife has become so comfortable and proficient with it now that she asked for and received a 9mm Glock.

Very nice.
MrSarp, where did you get the aftermarket grips from? Any suggestions?
Theyr'e Larry Davidson grips. Google him...great service and selection. I have two pairs, one the same mr. Sharp and another one in black, but different stye.
I'll upload a picture when I fugure out how to do it.

Sparky7 is 100% correct as like he said he has the same grips as me.

..... although she did try my son in-laws 1911 .45ACP and handed it back saying no thanks.....

I had the EXACT same thing happen after my wife shot my CZ Shadow. One round and she was done.
However, she has commented out loud that she'd like to come back and try again now that she's gotten over the first shot.

*** I bought the Browning 1911-22 today. I swiped her RPal and bought it for her. The store is aware that when they call her to pick up her new toy, she won't know what they are talking about at first. :)
