On a Winchester 37 there is a piece of metal on the bottom of the barrel that locks into the forend shoe - Is that piece of metal on the barrel brazed, welded or pinned on? I need it off.
Regardless of how it is attached, it can be ground off... or did you want it just off temporarily without damage? It is not meant to remove and reinstall.
GOT IT OFF. Propane didnt get it hot enough. Just tried MAP - started to turn deep red, tapped with hammer and it flew off. They ground an oval groove in the barrel filling with solder, which I guess makes sense.
