My FUDD genes are in complete turmoil right now, just took advantage of IRG's excellent offer. Thing is, I know absolutely diddly-squat about ARs. Besides CGN, can you offer links to required reading for a newbie? Is there an AR bible a guy could peruse to learn basics such as function and maintenance?

Thanks for the replies.

you tube the following:
AR trigger
AR bolt
AR buffer tube
AR gas system (carbine, mid length, rifle)
AR handguard
AR barrel nut

I perused a few of Patrick Sweeney's gun smithing books on the AR that a friend of mine had. Awesome reference and history. There's lots of useful info and tips on diagnosing and fixing issues too & it also explains why you should do the things and what effects they have in the long run / immediate effects on the other components. I think it's probably one of the best sources for a newb.
