resetting turrets?

I just sold my Vortex Diamondback and got a Banner II. The DB was the first scope with zero-able turrets using a coin and showed me how the mechanism works. Is there any reason I couldn't also take off the turret "cap" on the banner once I've 0'd it at the range with the 2 screws? It should just be a spline, right?

What would be the intended use, looking at pictures of your scope I see no hashmarks to line up and keep track of changes.

The banner line is designed for hunting with a fixed scope with closed turrets. I would get a exposed turret scope before staring to play with your turret.

22 targets. I already added a scratch mark to keep an orientation. My current zero on the 308 is 1/2" Up from" 0"
