Resizing/swaging Norma 9.3/.365" bullets (Norma reference #69305) to .358" was a piece of cake!

They were pulled from Norma factory 9.3x 57 ammo and weighed 232grs. I got them cheap at a gun show along with a Lee .357 sizer die set to use in my single stage "O" press. I simply lubed them up with Lee case lube and one timed them up the chimney using my press. Very little force was required. They measure now almost .358" - around 3575 or slightly more (some spring back I suppose). They appear to be conventional cup and core. I guess more solidly built ones may offer more resistance to being squeezed smaller. I plan to try some others - hopefully some heavier 9.3/286s or heavier - if I can find some.

Now I've gotta figure out which one of my 35s to use to launch them. So many decisions:)

interesting, I keep looking for a good source of .361" slugs for my old revolvers, but I'm not keen on casting my own unless I have to. Perhaps if I can find something closer I could resize.

Years ago I made a die to pound 405gr 458's through to size them down for my 11 mm mauser.. it worked fine.

Conventional wisdom says that if you draw jacketed bullets down more than 5 or 6 thousandths, you will tend to get jacket separation. Apparently the spring-back rate for the copper or gilding metal jackets is much greater than that of the lead cores. This also effects accuracy since the core is "loose" and the bullet doesn't spin uniformly.

Case lube isn't normally a good choice when working at these pressures. A tiny amount of anhydrous lanolyn will do a much better job.

You monster!! you ruined some cartridges that are getting increasingly hard to find.
A monster I may be - but not for that reason.

Yes I got them cheap but the guy selling them pulled them not me. I just bought the 232gr projectiles. I've got some loaded up with 60grs of IMR4895 to try in my 350 WSM. I'll report back on accuracy when I test them.

Layne Simpson did the same resizing (9.3 286gr to .358) before going on a Swedish moose hunt with a Norma 358Mag. No accuracy troubles and he reported good performance killing a moose with it.
