I have some 35gr .25cal slugs that I would like to make smaller in diameter and run them through a (.25cal) swaging die. Is there anything commercially available that wouldn't break the bank?

Re-sizing a bullet - I have a .311" Lee sizer here, and a .314" Lee sizer on the way - I had previously owned various other diameters made by Lee. Is likely about the least expensive type to get, if you do not already own a lube-sizer tool like Lyman, RCBS or Star - is likely appropriate diameter dies available for them as well? I have never tried to re-size jacketed bullets - only lead cast ones - but have read that others were able to re-size jacketed bullets successfully.

Some years ago, a sizing die for a Star lube-sizer cost close to what the Lee sizing tool "kits" were selling for. I have no clue what the prices would be like today. Nor have I ever bought "new" sizer and nose dies for Lyman or RCBS - aka "H & I" set - no clue what they might cost to buy.

In what I saw for sale, you have to be more precise than ".25 caliber" - do you want .257", .255", .259" and so on? Is likely that Lee Precision, NOE or others will stock or make what you want? Used to be sold as a "kit" by Lee - a push thing that replaces a shell holder in your re-loading press, a sizing die that threads into top of your re-loading press, and a tube or bottle of Lee lubricant. If you go the Lyman or RCBS lube-sizer route, you will also need a "nose" die that matches to the exact nose shape of your bullet - since they push the bullet through the die base first - the Star and the various Lee things use a more or less "flat" ended pusher to push the bullets through the sizer going nose end first. Both systems seem to seat gas checks just fine - at least those that I installed on cast lead bullets.

With a lube-sizer tool - once you get it set up and loaded up with lube in the reservoir - it will both size to diameter and fill the grooves in the bullet with lube, in one pass. With the Lee push through devices, you have to lube the bullet and re-size it, in separate steps.

Thanks for the reply. I use 7/32" lead wire to swage .25cal slugs for my air rifle. I had a bad die set and have hundreds of slugs made that I would like to get to a smaller diameter and run them through my new die set (if possible).
