I have some '06 brass that I have re-sized to 270 Win and they work well in my 270.
What I'm wondering is ; am I damaging the Rifle's chamber throat by firing this ammo as the case neck of the re-sized brass is about 1/8 inch shorter than fasctory 270 brass?

Appears I will leave this idea alone and stick to regular brass.
Only tried 2 cases so no problem will arise..
Thanks Dan.

The dark secret about .270 Win is that it's actually necked down .30-03 brass, not .30-06 brass. The parent is _slightly_ longer than the '06, which gives the .270 its nice long neck.

I doubt you'd see throat erosion increase much as a result of resizing '06 though--maybe knock a few hundred rounds off the life of the barrel, if I had to guess.

I have shot hundreds of 270 loads formed from 30-06 brass. The difference in length is not even close to 1/8" after necking down.

You will have no problem with this at all.

Ted
