I noticed that some people just lube the cases, de-prime and resize at the same time.
I tried it once but it felt very gritty pushing the dirty brass up in to the re-sizing die.

Now I do the following:

deprime it using a cheap depriming die, wet tumble with SS media, dry it, resize, and finally wash off the lanolin and dry it.

Am I creating myself unnecessary extra work by doing the extra steps?
Does it even matter?
How do you do it?

Depends on the case.

I own 1 300 blackout, and it's a single shot= deprime, neck size only

If I own multiple firearms of the same caliber, it'll get the works.

1. Tumble
2. lube (Hornady Spray)
3. Resize/deprime and Prime
4. Check length and trim as needed.
5. Tumble
6. Powder
7. Bullet seating

"Neck size only"

I should of elaborated a little. Well my brass doesn't touch the ground so it doesn't get "gritty". I run a 30 cal brush through the neck. I only get a light dust of carbon out of the case. Then I deprime and neck size with a Lee collet die. After that I clean the primer pocket with a pocket uniformer and a pocket brush. The uniformer does a great job scrapping the carbon off. I just use it lightly. This is all on once fired brass. I then trim with one of those RCBS three in one cutters. Sometimes a lot sometime nothing comes off the case.. I see no real need to tumble after just one firing. I tumble only after FLR. Then I put them in my covered bin ready to reload later. I don't prime until then.
I lube, full length resize and debur the flash hole along with uniforming the primer pocket on new brass then trim. And wash, rinse and dry.
I think that's pretty much it.

right now, clean them deprime/resisze. when i build a stainless steel tumbler then the first option, deprime, clean, resize.
