Resizing fireformed brass?

I don't know much of anything about fireforming etc. Do you need to resize fireformed brass if you're just using it in one gun?

If not, do I just find a universal decapper to deprime, then just powder up and load the projectile as normal, just omitting the resize step?

What are you reloading?
What reloading manual are you using?
With a trader rating of (16) what have the other threads offered?

With straight walled cases (.44 Magnum) full length resize.
With bottle necked rifle, either full length resize or neck size and deprime at the same time.
Try RCBS.com - they even have video.
 
If you are using a blot gun no you should not need to resize the body of fireformed brass from that rifle. Other action types will need full length resizing. Pistol cartridges should be full length resized.

You will need to resize the neck to hold the projectile. I use lee neck sizing dies but there are other ways to do it using full size dies and not bumping the shoulder.

A reloading manual is your best friend. Read the parts where it talks about reloading not just the recipies.
 
I understand that what you're saying is right but I think there's factors involved like the
quality of the chamber job, stiffness of the action and likely most of all the brass itself.
I've tried it with a couple of mine but I felt it took too much to close the bolt.
I think you'd have to try the following.
1. Can you close the bolt on an unsized brass?
2. If you put a bullet in the unsized brass is there enough tension to hold it in place.
I think at the very least you'll have to partial neck size to get neck tension. I find that
after partial sizing you will eventually have to bump the shoulder back.
I'm told that some benchrest guys do what you're suggesting but I have no idea of how
many times they do it before resizing. I'd go to 6mmbr or Benchrest Central and see
what they have to say. There's guys on there that know their stuff.
At the very least I'd buy the universal decapper. It's nice to tumble without the primers.

Neck size, trim (if necessary) then good to go.
 
Yes you need to resize. Either neck or full length. Also recommend neck sizing only. But you can get away with using only one FL die and back it off a bit jsut to neck size. Not the best way, but may work well in for you for hunting purposes.

If after 4 or 5 firings your bolt becoms harder to close on the round, you are starting into the need to bump. I would hazard to guess that at this point for max charged hunting rounds it may be better to just toss the brass and start a new bag. My 2 cents....
