If you get a bag of new brass is it worthwhile to resize it the first time you use it or better off to use it just the way it is?

I have 2 bags of Rem. .375 H&H and I also notice that the inside of the neck where the bullet seats is a little rough, irregular, dented, on almost all of them.

run threw your resizer die and make the all uniform , will round out the necks. check lenth and inside and outside debur the necks before using them.

I always resize the necks because of the reason you mention, that they necks are quite often dented. I also always deburr the necks.

Always resize new brass as they can become damaged and distorted through mfr, shipping, handling, etc. This way you know you are starting with correctly formed and shaped brass and eliminating variables is always a plus in reloading.

Yup, size, trim & debur the flasholes.

While sizing two new, unopened bags of Win. .264 Mag brass, I ran across
2 - .300 Win Mag cases mixed in with .264 brass in one of the bags !
( Even counted them ... 50 - .264 [full count] + 2- .300 [extra] )

found 25-06 in with 7mmRM, good find as I shoot both.

found several distorted rounds in bags of new brass, one 22-250 had a split in the neck.

I always full lenght size new brass, then trim and debur the flashholes

gives me the chance to give each one a good inspection.

I load'em up, shoot to fireform, then neck size and trim. This may not be the best way of doing it but brass is useless untill you fireform anyway so why go through the extra steps for nothing. If something is obvoiusly wrong I will fix it before loading(ie. bent necks...) if its really bad they get tossed.

Inspect,
Full length resize,
Trim to,
De-burr neck,
Flashhole de-burr,
Primer pocket uniform and
tumble.

I disregard range results on first firing, afterwards they get neck sized and I take it from there.
