So I have some 30-06 that has been resized to 270 Win. (on the board of sale).
I got to thinking, with 30-06 so expensive, could I resize the resized brass back to 30-06 and reload it for myself?
Or am i asking for trouble?

I do very little reloading so if the question is really stupid, I apologize.

It's certainly possible, but 30-06 brass is pretty plentiful, there always seems to be some lying around at ranges so it might not be practical. You could even just load up some 270 ammo in it and fireform. But again, the most practical way to get 30-06 is to just go get some.

If it is unknown how many times the "270" brass was fired, I would anneal the case shoulder/neck prior to resizing them back to 30-06 to avoid neck splitting. I use a salt bath annealer which works well for me. At least the head stamps will, once again, be correct...

fyi 30-06 cases converted to 270Win usually come up about 0.055" too short to meet specs anyway. The 270Win was developed from the longer 30-03 case which has the same case o.a.l. as both 270Win and 280Rem
