Do you folks have any suggestions for books about basic firearm care. The proper cleaning and maintenance of rifles and shotguns. Our local library has the Gunsmithing Rifles and Shotguns by Patrick Sweeney. Is there a better guide for beginners that you might suggest. We aren't looking to do major projects but I do want to learn the proper way to care for our firearms and possibly some small repairs or alterations.
Sounds like we will need some proper tools for gun maintenance, screw driver set, punches, etc. Some of these sets are a wild price. Any economical sets out there that will do the job without causing undo stress at home?
Any suggestions for a practical cradle or vise for cleaning and working on your guns?
Thanks, Paul

Make sure that every screwdriver you use will fit the screw-slot properly, there is nothing as bad, or as ugly, as a damaged screw. Make your own screwdrivers to fit, if you do not want to spend a lot of $ on an expensive set.
