restocking a ruger no.1

i just bought an rsi no.1 in 7x57. an option i would like is a shorter stock for my wife and kids to shoot(plus i want a project). what i would like to find is a 1-a sporter stock, and shorten both the butt and the fore end. i think that with the barrel already shorter than a 1-a, this would make for a handy little rifle for smaller shooters. any suggestions for a source? i want to leave the original as is.

Not sure if Boyds sells a laminate for the #1 but I'm going to replace mine with a MPI.

If your looking for a semi-inletted stock (i.e., you don't mind performing final fitting, shapping, and finishing), I can heartily recommend Macon Gunstocks in the US. I've purchased several sets of Marlin stocks and I just checked and they produce Ruger #1 sets.

Buttstock and foreend will put you back about $140 US.

you could try western gun parts to see if they have a take off stock and go from there.

MPI is a fiberglass stock maker out of the US. They ship to Canada all the time without issue.
