I picked both up awhile back. While one was severley bubba'd the .22 was most likely some kind of converted trainer who's history I'm uncertain of. Anyway I have all the parts stored for the .22 just in case. Hope you enjoy the pics. Dave BTW Anyone have set of uncut handguards for these?

Nice wood on the .303 - where'd you pic up such nice wood that's not already on a rifle? FYI, it is post-ww2 walnut replacement wood. I can tell as it doesn;t have the "hump-style" forestock. Still nice though :)
 
PS: You .22 trainer has incorrect front sight ears unless the gun is australian marked. That's a lithgow modified WW2 era nosecap.
 
Thanks for the nice comments guys. Good obsevation Claven2 The wood is Australian maple for the butt and coachwood for the forend. The coachwood was cracked inside the recever area and I repaired it with CA glue but didn't trust the repair on a 303 so I figured a .22 wouldn't hurt it any. Thus the Aussie nosecap. Good obsevation on the walnut forend on the 303 too. It's replacement wood from Springfield Sporters. I looked all over for MK III wood and found SS and Hoosier had them. SS will ship here but Hoosier was hesitant.
 
SS is a GREAT outfit. I've ordered from tham many times and highly recommend them :) A few years ago they used to sell inter-war walnut EFD marked foreands still in the wrap. I often wondered why they didn't use them up in production instead of the beech they went to post-war for refurbs???

Ah well - I won't complain!
