Restoring a Cooey Repeater

Major Sights, What determines if its a "ranger"? The length of the barrel? Mine is exactly like yours. What type of stain did you use? Minwax?
As for tung oil, where would a guy readily find it? I haven`t seen any.
I made a boo,boo....will I need to re-strip back to bare wood? I just used about 3 coats of boiled linseed oil, it did not turn out the way I wanted it...shiny. I then thought, I`m going to try to seal it and buff it with mothers car polish....didn`t work either. Maybe I should strip to the wood and stain like major sights did with the cherry if I can find this "tung oil"

Can you guess what the tube holding the gun up is going to be???

Cooeys that are marked "Ranger" were stamped as such for stores...I'm pretty sure Ranger was for Sears. It's still a model 60. There's also "Eatonia" marked Cooeys too.

"Ranger" branded Cooeys were sold by Eatons. Sears liked to mark their stuff "J.C. Higgins"
If you put 3 coats of boiled linseed oil on it, you won't be able to strip it as the oil will have soaked in. You should be able to polish it up to a nice gloss.
"Ranger" branded 22s were also sold in the US but they weren't made by Cooey. They were altogether different and made by at least 2 different companies.
