Alright, so a buddy of mine has a P14 enfield that was sporterized, and wants to get the proper stock and furnature put back onto it.

So far, we can only find p17 stuff. Will the p17 stocks and such fit on a 14? Thanks!

Sorry guys...I've been in restoration for sometime. A P14 action will not fit 1917 Enfield (P17) without filling around triggerguard and reinletting the action/barrel channel. The triggerguard on the 1917 is larger at the front of the floorplate, bolt release different, barrel profile larger. Actions are different sizes. Other external differences are the figner grooves and top wood. Your best to get the correct stock. Boyds makes a reproduction for about $250.00. It's got lots of wood to adjust inletting and makes a good shooter. IMO. Ron

I'd start with the usual suspects: numrich, sarco inc; I wonder if Brian, at BDL ltd could source some parts too. Remember, half the fun is finding the parts :)

It'll be a challenge. I had a beauty that was sportered but I lost patience looking for wood. I'm cheap though. ;)

ive got a P14 in a P17 stock, i dont think there was any modifications to it TBH

Either the mods were done before you had it or it's really a P-14 stock :p

I found one full wood stock for $110 shipped. I just don't have the money right now due to a few crappy things happening.

This is what I've got to start with:

I bought a new p-17 stock set from numrich about 13 years ago to do the same project you are doing. The only difference is the triggergaurd. I bought an unserialed p-17 triggerguard (I couldn't stand the gaps in the wood with the p-14 gaurd in place) the P-14 guards fits but there will be two gaps forward of the magazine well (the screw spacing is the same, as are the thread count I used two new P-17 guard screws to replace the ones bubba chewed up). After that all I did was carefully drawfile the P-17 gaurd inside the well until my P-14 magazine box fit it like it did in the original gaurd. The metal/wood fit is perfect and I even used all eddystone P-14 metal hardware for the stock.

I had a P14 sporter a few years back, but I lost interest in restoring it, especially after I picked up a complete military specimen from louthepou... it still has a special place in my gun locker, Lou!!

Thanks collector67! Good to know it's still in a good home :)

Restoring a P14 or a M1917 is a fun refurb project. And the resulting end product is, with a good bore, typically a very good shooter! I kept one of each in my collection, and they are always a pleasure to shoot with. A bit on the heavy side, but other than that... very good rifles, and underated by most, sadly.
