Restoring a slightly larger milsurp...

I have spent quite a few years resurrecting old milsurp rifles and such. As a winter project I have taken on something slightly larger. A "7,85 cm leichter Minenwerfer" - German WW1 trench mortar !!!! Actually they were also used in the direct fire role (see the 3rd pic) and were quite popular as they were more easily manoeuverable in trench warfare conditions than conventional artillery. Could be brought well forward to support attacks etc.

It is pretty much complete, but needs some attention...and a set of loading dies.....

There is one of those in Grand Bend Ontario. Yours is in much better shape. Nice find.

Remember seing one in some Ontario town, near ###### Falls, but that was about 40 years ago. :D Think a lot of German armament was spread around to various legions for monument use after the war. Lethbridge has a couple of nice Kraut howitzers.
