Restoring older shotguns

I have a couple older shotguns that I'd like to improve the metal bluing on, they aren't worth a whole lot but they're good servicable guns, an old Rem mod 17 pump 20 gauge, and an old Browning Auto 5 16 gauge. The wood I can look after but the bluing is my question. The Rem is the worst(no pitting or severe rusting, just years of wear) and the Browning has much more of the original bluing. Are there any products out there that restore without needing total stripping and bluing? What would you recommend?I appreciate any/all responses.

If you wanted to do it your self, get a Birchwood Casey Gun Blue Kit. Somewhere in the $20-30 range. Instructions and everything you need. For the prettiest job, you will want to strip the old blueing but you could get away with degreasing the existing and going over it again but you will most likely get an uneven finish.

Is the stripping a difficult task? I've seen guns with uneven bluing and I'd prefer to avoid that look. What steps to achieve stripping? I guess If I'm going to do it, I'd rather get it right and have a good looking gun.....
