restricted back to prohibited

I see lots of nice hand guns for sale that were previously classed as prohibited, but have been reclassified as restricted by fitting rather odd looking longer barrels. As I am grandfathered for prohibited class, I was wondering if it possible to refit them with the original length barrel and reclass them back to prohibited?

No.
It is a one way reclassification.
And if you remove the longer barrel, the stripped frame reverts to prohibited - but it cannot be registered as such.

Actually a revolver with the barrel removed becomes the ultimate snubby and is classed as restricted - "receiver only"
