Restricted Barrel to NR

Was wondering if a welded on brake/flash hider on a 16" AR barrel that extends it to 18.6" would change status of it?

Nope, the barrel length is measured from the breech face to the end of the rifling or barrel without any additions.

You could put a ten foot barrel on an AR15 and it'd still be restricted.

Just wondering about adapting an AR barrel on a NR version like the SLR.
I've seen some pics about some prohib barrels being converted to Restricted with barrel ends welded on.

There was a time when a permanently installed muzzle device counted as part of the barrel length. Those days are gone. In the US, a permanent extension counts.

As stated barrel length isn’t affected by permanently adding anything to the muzzle end, that only affects overall length of a firearm generally.
