Has anyone built a restricted crypto yet? Holding off on getting one for now, but curious to see if anyone made one forcing an FRT.

theres been rumors on this form that someone has. but i think the general consesus is that an frt takes a least a year to make
The FRT - Firearms Reference Table - is an ongoing catalogue of firearms, that has been in the works for years. It is a never ending project.
Are you referring to making a FRT entry, or deciding on a classification? N-R, R, or P?

i think what the person is reffering to is initiating an frt. Since firearms designed and made in canada dont need an frt they need to find there way into an rcmp lab before being given one.

Making an NR and R is a way they end up in the lab.

The Firearms Reference Table is a catalogue. Entries for firearms are routinely created and the FRT grows constantly.
A FRT entry will include the classification of the firearm. The classification of a firearm could be straightforward, or could be complicated.
Firearms to be imported into Canada need a classification before they can be placed in circulation.
A firearm being made in Canada will have an entry created for it in the Firearms Reference Table. The Crypto is not a secret; an FRT entry will have been prepared, yet to be published.
Obtaining a receiver set and assembling a firearm with a barrel less than 18 1/2" would be crating a firearm in the restricted category, requiring registration. A firearm must be identified in the FRT in order to be registered. Submitting an application to register such a firearm would require a public classification as restricted, if the registration is to proceed. It could be argued that applying to register a restricted Crypto would be forcing the CFP to publicly announce the classifications of Crypto based firearms. N-R, R or P.
Might be good news. Or not.

This is bang on the reason for my post - I’m just curious if someone from this page can confirm if they started the process.

I noticed that the crusader website is only listing the crypto as sold out in both reciever and full rifle. Maybe there just being honest with customers and are waiting for production to catch up. But I was also wondering if maybe the rifles status is in review with so many recieber sets in the wild. I'm sure some one has built a restricted rifle by now.

I doubt that anyone is going to announce that they have started the process. If a prohibited classification is announced, he would be the target for as much abuse as the person blamed for the Swiss rifle prohibited classification.

yeah thats very interesting its listed as sold out
I mean technically it says out of stock. I mean I think it's a more honest business practice then taking order that you can't fill in a timely manner and I know a lot of people were complaining that about the wait time of their orders. Better then selling orders you can't fill anytime soon and getting bombarded with emails. It could just be that the demand was higher than they expected. I know Lockhart pissef a lot of people off taking orders and not fulfilling them or reaching out. Or maybe they are concerned about the frt status. I think I saw poly tried to hard ball the liberals and they basically said "we banned a bunch of the bad guns and we have to figure out our logistical nightmare before we ban more, and we suck and won't be running the country much longer" lol that's me paraphrasing of course. Not that the rcmp lab might have different opinions.

Based on the treatment of atrs Id assume a cease and desist would have been issued to crusader arms as soon as the lab designated its frt status, unless more political games are being played which would be no surpise. Regardless crusader arms should be producing the receiver sets as fast as possible

It's actually very stuipid business practice, ask anyone who's into sales. You sell as much as you can, and if you sell more than you can crank up then you simply scale up or subcontract, worst case you just publish longer waiting time but still collect funds.

Unfortunately when companies do this they get a bad reputation from any number of issues that can arise during the manufacturing process. I personally applaud them for not taking peoples money and then trying to rush to meet deadlines.

There is a Crypto for sale on GP that has a restricted length barrel, and is advertised as restricted. Name of the listing is "Crypto" and the seller wants 4k for it lol

The price gouging for the cryptos does not make much sense. It is not like they will cease production if the stay NR.

I haven't checked GP to see the Crypto gouging and while I agree $4k seems steep, it's conceivable that you could be into one for that much if you used all top end parts. I mean the receiver is $1k and you could easily be into almost another $k for a match barrel. Trigger, handguard, bcg, etc... adds up. I'm sure that's not the case and some guys are jus gouging but it is feasible, haha.

Just people trying to make a buck off people panic buying over the past Dec OIC and possible upcoming Feb OIC

It was a standard M4 with 16" barrel and detachable carry handle, nothing crazy. I was more so pointing out that he was selling a restricted length Crypto

edit - Spoke with him and he says its actually a 18.5" barrel

Gotcha, yeah, that is definitely some gouging then, haha. Hopefully with the circus prorogued the Feb OIC never materializes...
