I dont curently have any gun licence and i live in montreal quebec.

if somebody would give me a lead on what to do i'd really appreciate.

Thx

i just have my non res but i figure it would be the same go to your local rangers office (dnr) ask them when the course is for the restricted and the nonrestricted better to have both . after the course and the tests and pass you send out your info and a check all the info is on the paper work and after a long wait and you get your licences then b4 you buy a hand gun you must be a member of a gun club and then more paper work and waiting for att and then you can pick up your hand gun or what ever it is you want. thats for new brunswick if anyone wants to elaborate have at her

As said, every club or store offers the courses or can refer you to a place that does run the class. Take the class, pass the test, send in paperwork, then it magically appears in the mail some time later.

You must pass the CFSC test and the CRFSC test, then you must get a PAL, then you must join an approved shooting club.

Centre Récréatif d'Armes à Feu de Montréal (CRAFM/CTM) is an approved shooting club that is local to you.

Welcome to CGN, when I started out I went to a gun store and bought the two books "Canadian Firearms Safety Course" and also went online to Gun Exams.com for a few sample questions. After reading both books a couple of times I took the CFSC ..Canadian Firearms Safety Course. There is a practical part where you handle all kinds of guns. It is not rocket science and most people get through no problem. Send off the paper work and then wait.
Again welcome.see you on CGN.:D

You dont need to be a member of a club to get ur RPAL .. Im not a member ..and I have my RPAL.. but you'll need to join one before you buy a restricited tho

as for the steps... Fiddler has it spot on..

Rpal

I received my RPAL last month. No problems. I never took the courses, just challenged the tests. They're 50 questions each. 25 multiple choice,25 true or false. You must get 80% to pass. There is also a practical component where you must load guns, prove them safe, demonstrate proper carrying techniques, etc. If you're not going to take the courses you should find someone to run you through the practical parts, though there are such videos on youtube that can help. Don't know what the situation is like there in Montreal but here(Niagara Region) there are great guys who give excellent support to newbies.

Another thing. You do NOT need to be a member of a club to purchase a restricted weapon. I don't know where all this comes from.
However...I would advise joining one anyway as it will make things easier in the long run. Besides, why own guns if you can't shoot them?

Hope this helps!
