I am thinking of changing my Non Restricted PAL when it expires in 2011 to a restricted. Can it be changed before expiry? Is it going to be harder for me to get it changed?

I guess years ago I shouldn't have listened to my dad about restricted and non lol. Is my old course valid to cover for the restricted as it was double taught in one course?

If you took the test prior to or in 1994 when the both tests were combined, then you do not need to take the test.

I just had mine changed from a PAL to a RPAL. All I had to do was to fill out the application again and check off the RPAL box and get a picture and references and send it in with no fee as it is waived until next year.

I sent mine in on September 18 and it was just finalixzed today and is in the mail. You can call the CFC and ask them about it. They can check your name and verify if you have to take the course or not. They were good to deal with. Good luck and get it done now as who knows what will happen in the future.

No, unless, you still have your RPal certificate to indicate that you pass and have taken Restricted firearm course. Make a photocopy of your Restricted firearm or both non restricted and reaply again. If you don't have your RPal certificate then you have to do the test again, you don't have to take the course.
