My rpal was issued today (already have pal)and I am already a member of a club, would I be able to purchase a restricted firearm today without the new licence in hand(ie would the store be able to confirm the restricted licence through Miramichi when the deal goes through) or would I have to wait until the licence arrives. Knowing ATT transfer times I would like to speed up the process as much as possible

thanks

Your licence number will be the same, with one higher version number (.000X). The store doesn't need the .000X just your main licence number.
They should be able to call the prov. CFO and confirm you have a valid licence. I had a store in Alberta do this even though the sales rep didn't know they could.

I love that episode:

Dealer: "There's a three-day cooling-off period"

Homer (whining) "But I'm angry NOW"

Timeless

I asked the CFO the same question as above. They told me that one cannot take physical possession of a firearm before receiving the license in the mail. The transfer of ownership can take place, but you can't transport or take possession of the firearm without the permit in hand. In other words, you need that piece of paper or you could be in trouble if checked.

When I asked this of the lovely lady at the CFO she said in a telling tone "technically" you are supposed to have the license in hand. As you license number does not change and the upgrade is done to you number if you ordered online it would go through but legally you are supposed to wait! Not sure what the big deal is bt there you have it!
