Hey guys so I just passed my restricted course, was thinking if I have a handgun And it's stored in my house, what happens if I were to go on holidays?

Keep in mind I'd be the only one in the house with a restricted license

Thanks

Same thing happens with your non-restricted guns when you go on holiday..nothing.

I would imagine your gun wouldn't grow little gun legs and walk out of your safe in the event you went on a holiday.

If you're really worried about it then sell them for a dollar to a friend, he or she stores them for you then sells them back to you when you come back. Make sure your friend will sell it back to you lol! :D

They get lonely, you should take them with you! they like surf and sun too.....

no he's serious. there are 10 people per province (13 in Quebec and Ontario) who are licenced to hold onto your restricted and prohibs if you are going to be gone from your residence more than 72hrs. Did you not read about this in the Restricted exam? If not your instructor should be reported to the CFO. Obtaining the licence is a long drawn out process and isn't cheap. Holders must prove they have adequate storage facilities to hold the number of guns estimated to be in their possession at any given time. Shipping to and from them is at your cost. There is a list in the FAQ here on CGN of all the licenced individuals/companies in Canada.

I'm messing with you dude. No such thing exists, but I've actually heard people say the exact same thing. I was at a gunstore years ago and listened while a guy told the clerk and anyone who would listen that he had such a licence and that 72hrs was the max you could be from your restricteds without putting them in storage with someone like him. Of course he then had to start going on about the 100% plastic Beretta he had, plastic frame, slide, barrel etc, that he carried on planes all the time blah blah blah. yeah sure dude.

So you're saying I shouldn't have given him my guns? Do you think he'll refund the storage fees? Actually, come to think of it, he didn't leave me a phone number...

haha, i know stupid question but i was curious if it was different from non restricted, ijust figured what if the rcmp came to "check" and all of a sudden im not there with my license

Same thing that would happen if the RCMP came to check your non restricteds.

Nothing.

Keep them locked up so nobody in your house without a licence can access them and enjoy your vacation.

He probably did not have Refund Storage Fee(RSF) Authorization. I do. If you send me a $300 check I will refund you $100 for the storage fee and keep the other $200 as a service charge.

Have have your guns stored according to the regulations and you should be fine. I should mention that I am willing to provide professional gun cleaning services. Just leave me your keys and for a modest fee I can go to your house and clean out your firearms.

I just LOL thinking about the hassle of getting the transfer and ATT paperwork here in Ontario to do this.

"...what if the RCMP..." This not covered on your RPAL course? The RCMP is not going to come visit for no reason. Neither is anybody else in law enforcement.
What's 'on holidays' mean? I've heard of 'em, but haven't had one in years.
