Long story short bought an antique 38 S&W top break while in the states with the intention of mailing it to myself once the it was registered. But how long is this supposed to take? Did my over the phone verification and submitted my application online, that was oct 23,and as of yet it still says that it has completed intial prossesing and is now in progress. Does it usually take this long to register a restricted?

I am assuming you know all the legalities of importing guns into Canada, and exporting them out of the states. I hope the rifle is worth it. It all depends on what kind of gun. If it is an antique(legally) then it doesnt have to be registered in canada, and you don't even need a license to buy one.

A .38 S&W could be antique in the US, but not in Canada.
If the firearm has antique status in the US, export should not be a problem.
Mailing it across the border could be a problem. Will USPS accept a firearm for international delivery?
Why not call the CFC, and see what is happening with the registration?

It is a revolver and is a antique in the united sates, but not in canada because of the cartridge. As far as the USPS is concerned as long as it's antique it's not a firearm, have mailed various other antiques with them without problem. But this is the first antique firearm that i have bought that had to be registered in canada. Was just wondering from anybody else's experience what the usual wait is from the cfc, was considering giving them a call.
