just wondering what you guys would recommend to get if you were looking for a revolver in 106mm range that does't have a huge hulking size to it i have been having a problem finding with one with the modern style and ergonomics i have been looking for that does't have a huge frame


PS is there any gunsmiths that cut barrels down to 106mm that specailize in revolvers?
 
Depending on what you were planning to shoot I'd say a K-frame or L-frame Smith and Wesson. The lighter K would be best if you're looking to shoot mostly .38 Special and the heavier L if you're planning on .357 magnums. Anything bigger (.44 or .45) will result in a big increase in bulk. I think Gunnar from Armco has done this type of barrel shortening before--and if you're really lucky, very occasionally a restricted revolver with a factory barrel a smidge over the 105mm will show up in the EE...I think I've seen two in the last few months.
 
what caliber do you want? if you want .44mag+ it won't be a small frame revolver...

Taurus makes a model 94 which is a small frame .22 (LR or MAG) with a 5in barrel...
 
K frame S&W as many have said. Either have one cut down or if you don't need (or don't want) adjustable sights then you could get a model 10 with a 4" or less barrel and replace it with a longer one. Model 10s can be found quite cheap and are great guns.
 
So if I brought any old 6" S@W or Colt Python to a smith, what kinda fee would I expect for him to shorten it to 106mm?
