It depends on the magazine. What magazine would you be using?
I have no idea yet.... I found this with a quick Google search but I would rather get one locally if possible.

Plus I have no idea if I'd need the whole assembly or if I could get away with just the magazine. I'm still fairly new to this and this is going to be my first "real" rifle so suggestions are welcomed and appreciated!
the bottom metal you use will dictate what magazines will fit. you cant just jam a mag in a stock 700 bottom metal. there is no Mag limit on bolt actions, BUT if the magazine used is made for a semi auto (ie AR mags) they will have to be pined to 5rounds . with a few loop holes (LAR 15 mags, .50 beawolf mags) etc
Sigh.
It is NOT a loop hole. It is the LAW.
so...at the risk of flogging a dead horse on this one...but the Mossberg MVP bolt action rifle uses AR15 magazines, my train of thought is that if a person were to "design" a magazine specifically for that bolt action gun and have it marked as such....you could effectively have say a legal 20 round magazine if you so desired or am i looking at this the wrong way?
and there is no restrictions on magazine capacity for any rimfire long arms -hence the 25 round butler creek mags for 10/22- there are also no restrictions on mag capacity on long arms with manually operated actions (bolt, pump, lever...dont think I'm missing any). i called the canadian firearms RCMP office about it on a bet last year...the local fort mcmurray detachment was sadly in the dark on it however when speaking to the people out at the firearms office in NB they were kind enough to actually look it up for me and put up with my pestering about clarification.
also hunting regs if used for hunting
This is Alberta. There are no mag limits for bolt, pump, or lever action rifles while hunting. Semi auto rifles have a 5 round limit while hunting big game.
