Ret dot for deer and turkey

Greetings everyone. New to guns and just bought my first.. Mossberg 940 pro waterfowl. I’d like to hunt deer with rifled slugs this season and was wondering if a red dot would be useful. And can I use the same red dot for turkey? Many thanks
 
Best if you get a rifled barrel or at least a rifled choke insert. Have you fired slugs thru your gun already ? I can do 2-3" at 25 with slugs just using the front bead on a 14" Hatsan 12G. Might be good for a close Turkey ? Maybe get a 2-MOA dot and practice OR a 4x scope to go with the rifled barrel ?
