Retro ar 15 build...what to get

I am looking at building a Vietnam era ar 15, but not sure where to start. Any recomendations on what parts I can find. Doesn't have to be an exact reproduction but as close as I can get with readily available parts.

The thing is you have to decide how close to original you want to get. If just the look then get yourself a Canada ammo dominion rifle which is 20'' and comes with fixed carry handle, but with funky furniture. All you'll need to do next is get M16A1 butt stock, handguards and grip handle. If you are in to details then good luck with that, because then sky is the limit and you'll need to read lots of posts at AR15.com. Nodak spud makes proper receivers now in US that have colt markings with auto switch and all, however they are in US and we are in other country.
