Something that's been on & off for a while now. Looking to give a bit of an old school look to a SR-22.

Some parts:

Some sanding and filler:

Primer Check...and looks like more filler & sanding!

Question, how did you get the barrel nut off the original handguard?

I did this a while back.. I beleive I secured in vice. Used heat gun (has loc tite from factory) and a spanner wrench. Would be curious to see an update on this rifle. I had a similar idea on a build but gave up after trying to secure a front sight post to barrel lol

Thanks for the info, any other methods of removal would be appreciated if I can't get a hold of a spanner wrench! Cheers!

Awesome build!

Awesome build!

You could also use a hammer and appropriate size punch to break it loose but will likely cause damage to the nut

Oh yes, I have tried that and using a brass drift as well as a strap wrench. But that did not work so I have tried soaking it in penetrating oil (blaster). That also has not managed to make it budge. Heat did not work, but i'm not sure I got the nut hot enough. Unfortunately am at a stand still.
