Decided since I have the first JP LRP07 in 6.5 cm and the first Falkor Petra in 300 win mag I would do up a review of my range day. I compared these two to my BCL 102 in 6.5 cm that I made off a receiver set (I’ve done a write up on this before if you check my posts), desert tech in 6.5cm, cadex 308, and a custom 6cm I got off the ee and restocked. Overall, I found Hornady precision hunter ran well in all my semi auto’s despite the different calibers. The bolt actions were more accurate but I could likely improve the JP with tighter handloads (was using the ones for the BCL) and need to make some handloads for the Petra.

I was worried the Petra was going to be another jamomatic 2.5 moa modern hunter. Although the blame was being placed on inexperienced shooters or bad ammo and not the modern hunter. Here are 3 semi auto precision guns that are all shooting sub moa and closer to 0.5 moa without jamming. But luckily the Petra is the opposite of the modern hunter. It's soft shooting and felt like shooting an ar15 and no problems with cycling ammo and the accuracy was decent for factory ammo. Was getting about 0.7 moa. Even the cheap $30 box of 20 rounds of 300 win mag was getting about 1.5 moa. Which was better than premium ammo could do in the modern hunter. It's quite well balanced with the carbon fiber barrel and total weight with scope and bipod I think is about 11 pounds.

Thanks for posting the Petra stuff and here's the rest:

Initially when this particular rifle got pulled out from underneath me I was pretty disappointed and actually thought it may have potentially been a scam due to some of the actions of the seller. That said, I am happy to see the deal was legit and you recieved this awesome rifle for what should probably be considered a to good to be true price for the only one of its kind in country right now.

In the weeks since the the deal fell through, I have reconsidered the idea of buying a Petra, and I think I will be looking to further upgrade some existing articles in my collection instead. With much consideration it became apparent to me that a Petra would overlap too much with my existing AR-10s as well as my larger calibre platform's with both semi-auto and bolt actions. .308/6.5CM can take care of most, and for everthing else, there is .338LM/.50BMG. For these reasons I am actually kind of thankful the deal failed to come to fruition for me.

That said, I still hope someday Dr. Hunter will have me out to try it and see if it can change my mind in person, because it is still very cool and I would love an excuse to justify the expense.

Man, 100% I'm getting one. I have a buddy stateside that is in love with his, which is good enough for me based on everything else going for it. I just want the original tiger striped paint job they debeud the thing with.

I emailed them a couple weeks ago, no reply. Lack of communication makes it hard to do business.

Hmm... That's weird, the close their House of 1911s down and have lack of communication.

You probably could order it from Brownells and have it shipped to an importer to pin the mag.

You screwed him around to the point where I sure as hell wouldn't have dealt with you. I got to see your accusatory rant thread before it was rightly nuked.

That's a fairly strong accusation considering you do not have the full story despite you having seen my rushed point form rant/warning thread. I admit that thread that got nuked was definitely more on the rant and accusatory tone, I was just trying to throw caution in the wind to those who might have been in contact with him. As such I was rightfully infracted because I should have brought the matter to the moderators and admin rather than the open forum. Neither this thread or this public forum as a whole is the appropriate place to discuss this matter any further, as such I will not be making any further comments on this topic on the public forum.

Lets please not get this thread locked or nuked, let it serve it's purpose.

Question...

Is this non restricted? I would be in for one of these if they were. What a beauty and congrats on owning such an awesome piece!

Updated the thread with the rest of the pics and thanks for posting up the pics of the petra and it's groups. It's overall a pretty amazing gun. Reliable, soft shooting, and well balanced. Great out of the box accuracy with factory ammo. If you didn't reload you could still get quite a bit out of the gun you have the option of $30/ 20 rounds federal nontypical and 1.5 moa accuracy or $60-70/20 rounds of federal gold match or hornady precision hunter for 0.7 moa.

From the frt looks like you could get any Petra for sale in the US brought in thru an importer as long as the serial number is greater than 2000.
