To those interested in Canadian made barrel tuner, I recently had a chance to play a bit with Chou brothers Spearhead barrel tuner.

I was surprised how quick and easy it was shrink my group size. In about 1/2 revolution I found a 2 promising nodes.

I had a new barrel changed in my Surgeon rifle in 6.5 CM and not having a time to develop new load I went to the range with left over ammo that was developed for my old barrel.

First group, at zero setting. Not too promising (to be fair I am a bit rusty and rifle is being shoot from bench to from prone as I am used to)

Second 3 shot group, at +2 setting, better but still nothing special.

Third group, at +4 setting, now we getting somewhere.

Here is a whole progression, as you can see somewhere between +4 and +6 seems to be a sweet spot with groups starting to open at +8. Over all I am a very happy with this tuner, once set, you can adjust it with your hand, with enough friction that it will not move on recoil or during transport. One thing I will change is to highlight engravings, I was shooting in very bright light and reflections from SS made it very hard to read graduations.

In conclusion if you are looking for a way to make you rifle shoot more accurately with factory ammo or to squeeze this last bit of performance from your custom handloaded ammo you may give it a try.

Spearhead Barrel Tuner

+1 For the Spearhead Machine barrel tuner.

I Shot a couple of tests, with great results. This was my normal load for my .260 Remington Precision Rifle which was already a great load firing a Berger 140 VLD Target. I picked a starting point of "zero" once I had the tuner installed, fired two shots, and tuned up in increments of two indexed to the top of the barrel. The tuner is etched/engraved with witness marks and a numbered scale. For this barrel, it seems to like +16 on the scale. YMMV!

I'll take the improvement. Took a great load and made it better. Would def recommend.

My next test/adventure is going to be developing a load for the Lapua 139 Scenar since I can't get the Bergers right now. I'm pretty confident that by starting with good data from previous load development I can find a tune quickly again.

I'll try and post a follow-up in the future.

My initial tests with the Spearhead Tuner from Kevin is shown above. In order to conserve ammunition,On targets that were "open" only 2 shots taken.
On targets where group looked promising ,3 shots.I did not post all targets but 3 as an example of results.
Tested on my 6.5 Creed with a promising developed load. The unit with the adapter provides a great flexibility
of using or not a muzzle brake. The fit an finish, the precision and adjustability is exacting and
well designed. The results on this rifle and load are easily seen.
This tune at 2 proved itself to continued out to 300 Yard.
Further testing showed an even tighter tune at 7T2.
Next test is on a DTA in 300WM.
Give Kevin a call to discuss your specific need.
