Review: Vortex SPARC red dot sight

I haven't seem to get a clear answer nor is it posted on Vortex's website.

What is the eye relief on these sights WITH the 2x tube screwed on? What about their 3x magnifier? The positioning seems straight forward for AR mounting, but I'm looking into other rifle applications as well.

Not bad, but an 11 minute review and not one mention of battery life? Pretty important considering the Aimpoint has a monstrous battery life.

Also, comparing the ML2 to the Sparc size wise is apples to oranges.

Seems like a nice sight, but if I could pick up an Aimpoint ML2 for $400-450 used I couldn't see myself buying this, although compared to the micro you have a nice cost savings and a possible winner. All depends on your budget and what your using it for I guess.

The left side of the body of that sight is quite chunky. Doesn't seem optimal for shooting with two eyes open, which you really should be with a red dot sight.

Sorry to take the thread slightly off topic....I need to find myself a nice little bench rest like the one in the video. Does anyone know where in Canada I might locate one?

I guess I could make something up, but I have only owned it for a few days. I could quote the 3400 hours at the minimum setting (which I doubt anyone uses) but that's kind of meaningless IMHO. My EOTech 552 is rated at 1000 hours of continuous use but I find myself replacing the batteries all the time, so the 1000 hours estimate is meaningless to me. Once I replace the batteries the first time, I'll have a more realistic understanding of how long they last.

You completely missed the point, or perhaps I didn't convey it properly. I was talking about old technology vs. new. Dot sight vs. the new micro dot sights. It wasn't a direct comparison but showing how much smaller a micro dot is. I also mention the H1 and T1 which I say are of similar size.

I would buy an Aimpoint before I bought a SPARC in most cases. On rifles I don't plan on shooting all that much, I would go with a SPARC. I have a lot of rifles in my safe so I have a lot of dots to buy. On my primary rifles I use Aimpoints and EOTechs. But so far this sight seems solid to me and isn't a "cheap" sight in terms of construction or quality IMHO. I'm impressed with it.

First, thanks for the excellent review and your vid channel is great.

How do you think the SPARC will hold up on a DD-M4 and then a Benelli M2 tactical during two 4 day courses with the guys from Tactical Response?

I'll let you all know... :)
