I am looking at purchasing a hunting rifle and I have been looking hard at the savage accu triggers. I have heard all the talk about Tikkas and Sakos, what is the difference between a savage rifle and these others, Im thinking of accurcy. I like the nice trigger pull of the rifle which is why it intrests me. I would probally go with a heavy barrel in .308. What are your thoughts.

I used to be a huge fan of the accutrigger, but really it's just another trigger and less adjustable than most. It works fine, but I wouldn't choose to buy (or not to buy) a rifle based on the Accutrigger. Tikka's have nice triggers too, - pretty much everything other than the tikka/savage needs work and/or aftermarket replacement

I like the Accutrigger, but as I have smallish hands, for me it's best suited to stocks with a palm swell to get the end of the trigger finger in the most comfortable position to feel the end of the travel in the trigger safety.

I've got the accu-trigger in a 17hmr (think it's the same). It works very well and accuurcy is good. It's easy to adjust (never used the Tikkas) and have it set way low, but will not go off if dropped, you have to pull the silver trigger first. Don't go strictly on the trigger. For a .308 it might be a different story.

I have an accu trigger on my Savage .22 mag works great and it reminds me in a little way of the Glock I used to carry. (the trigger) I would buy savage and use the extra cash for good glass.

cheers Darryl

The accu-trigger is one of the better factory triggers I have ever used, the tika 585 I had years ago could be adjusted down to 8oz but that is not really suitable for a biggame gun. I don't hink you will be dissapointed.

The accu-trigger is biggest design in trigger history in all our lifetimes. It is amazingly crisp, med. to light pull and no creep at all. It always feels like you are about to feel it go off ...but you don't case it's already gone BOOM!!!

IMO you are on the right track.......Savage and Tikka's are the BEST!

I bought my first Savage rifle last week with the accutrigger and I love it. Its super crisp, light ,easy to adjust and very safe in the field from my understanding.
Ive heard it was a "bastardization" of a trigger but I really like on my new Savage Smokless ML II:D

Cheers!!

my 10FPLE2 has it and I so far very impressed.. Mind you the whole gun impresses the hell out of me.. 200 Yards and I'm shooting about 1MOA

I have a 16FSS in .270 WSM and I have shot less than 2 boxes of shells in total. I had it sighted in with Winchester Power Pionts and had all three holes touching. Figured right there that I would not shoot nothing else. Well those damn AccuBonds got the best of me and I bought a box.......Shoots all 3 in the same hole. This rifle has NOTHING done to it except leopold basses and rings and a Elite 3200 scope and it shoots better than guns pay multiple thousands of $$$$$ for. I am however looking for a really nice laminated stock as it's the best shooting gun I have ever seen, and feel it deserves that!

Just received my Savage .25-06 BVSS HD with accutrigger, look forward to trying it. Just mounted the scope and in the process of 'cranking' up some reloads. May have to wait for a while as access to the local range has been stopped because of the risk of fire.

I think they are a very safe trigger and they can be adjusted which is good... but they really don't compare to the stock Sako and Tikka Triggers.JBRO

I dont know RED... Ive got a Savage with an accu trigger and my Tikka T3 in front of me right now in preperation to go to the range and the Accu-trigger is just as nice as the Tikka. Can't commemt on the Sako though.
Im really anal about triggers, just got rid of a Weatherby Mark V because of a terrible trigger and can honestly say the accu-tigger is very nice.

Cheers!!

I fired a 300 Win with this trigger last Saturday. First time I have actually shot an Accu-Trigger and it was sweet. I had my 375 SAKO there, and it was every bit as good that one.

I've got two Savage rifles with Accu-triggers, identical guns, (12FVSS) in .223 and .270WSM. I absolutely LOVE the Accu-trigger; right out of the box, it was crisp and light, I didn't even adjust it at all. (BTW - The varmint style guns have triggers that are adjustable to a lower level than standard barrels) Both guns are scarily accurate. I highly recommend them to anyone.
