The pin goes through the frame at the point where the top of the barrel screws into the frame. The ends of the pin will be visible on each side of the frame.

Conventional right hand thread...usually pinned as described above... depending on the model I guess.... it will be obvious if it is pinned and the pin goes through the frame from one side to the other, up close to the thread diameter of the barrel. Someone once tried pinning the barrel through the center but it didn't work well.
Thanks for the photo link and the direction of turning.It may appear like I'm over posting and second guessing,and I am.Terribly concerned of snapping that little frame.Im going to soak it well for several days in gun oil while I try to come up with a good vice/brace to protect the frame.
Make sure you properly suport the frame in the area of the cyl. crane recess. I would check into the proper fixture available from Brownells specifically for this purpose. Some people in the past have used a hammer handle slipped through the cylinder window to remove barrels, but that will pretty much guarantee a bent/warped frame, especially on a Smith.
