In these old black powder revolvers we all enjoy so much where is the pressure seen, I beleive it is exclusively in the cylinder. The reason I say this is I have bought smokeless conversions for some of my black powder pistols and have noticed there is not any more metal in the smokeless cylinder. I would guess there is definetly better metal by not any more of it. If I am wrong I would love to here someone else's opinion.

You are right....In the old days alot of those cylinders were made of Iron, so you can see why 125 years later, one should exercise caution. Even today alot of new replicas are limited to 23K or so, orig. factory colt loads w/black powder went 900fps and 250gr. bullet. with 12k Press.
