Hello

I read several accounts of mid-level German officers who were equipped with revolvers in World War I.

I am used the P08 (Luger) and other semiautomatics, but am not familair with revolvers.

Does anyone have any information?

Thank you.

Regards

Richard

Various models of the 11mm Reichsrevolver were the official sidearm for Germany before the P08 Luger was adopted, and I'm sure that stocks of these would've been pressed back into service as circumstances warranted.

Hello,

Remember that in the German Imperial Army, Officers had to purchase thier own pistol just like in the British Army of the time. They could have bought a Luger, C96 etc or they could have bought a revolver (this is why you see some captured commercial pistols). Many of the reichsrevolvers were used because this is what the officer bought upon entering the military and they could have been to cheap to buy something new.

Or they could have been troops in the rear areas or at a training establishment where there wasn't a need for a luger or C96.

Hope this helps,
Cam

It won't be easy but I would try looking at antique gun dealers more than normal milsurp. Just keep your eyes open and be prepared to fork over some money. I think I have onl ever seen one Reichsrevolver go on CGN.
