RFB mag question

Hey guys,

I recently purchased a Kel Tec RFB 308 from an auction that came with one 5-rd DSA mag. That one fits pretty snug and locks securely.
I then bought four Thermold metric patter FAL 20rd(5pinned) mags from Bullseye North (it even says Kel Tec RFB mags on the product description). It fits well into the magwell but it doesn't lock into place at all. I've tried all 4 mags with the same result.
I'm just wondering if anyone else came across this issue. The owner's manual says to get metric pattern mags so I'm a little bit confused. I know the Canadian RFB's are a little different (no muzzle thread) but I don't see a reason why it wouldn't take metric pattern mags.
I've posted a comparison photo between both mags below as well as a photo showing inch vs metric patterns for reference. I appreciate any insight on this! Thanks!

I think the older models are non threaded, but they do come threaded now. You have to give them a pretty good whack to have the magazine seat properly. All mine are thermold metric mags - both for my RFB Carbine and RFB Hunter. I don't have any other mags to compare, but try straight insert, with some force / good whack. If that fails, you can try more of an angled rock / lock like FAL - may work better for the design on the metal fal mag you show in the photo.

I just bought a new RFB last month. The thermold metric mag that came with mine looks a little different to both of those. As xdmer mentioned, it takes a firm tap to seat it properly.

Mine also has a threaded muzzle. Not sure if they only did that on the 24" Hunter model, but mine is certainly threaded.

Giving it a good whack did work but the mag felt more jammed than locked in lol. Gonna have to see how it does at the range. Thanks!

The example you show of the difference between Metric and Inch pattern is not quite correct. In fact, both metric and inch pattern mags have the rear retention lug located in the same place. The difference on actual metal examples of each mag is in the front lug. The Metric unit has a small protruding triangular dimple, while the inch pattern unit has an extended square cornered ledge that is quite substantial. If you were to remove the front lug on an inch pattern mag, it would latch into the RFB no problem. Plastic mags often are dimensionally different than the metal units, and some may require a bit of fitting.
