I have a question about a FN Browning A5 owned by my father. The gun has the serial number 199###.
On the front, underside, of the wood forestock, the wood has been factory stamped with the words "Browning 3 Shot". The magazine tube measures about 1" shorter than a regular A5 when held side by side.
At a gun show, my father found one small sentence in a Browning reference book that said something to the effect "shortly after the war, some A5's were made in a 3-shot version".
I'm curious to know if anybody out there knows any more about the manufacturing history of this particular model. Advice as to the rarity is also appreciated. Was there ever a "Browning A3" ?
Thanks for your help.
